Colour me freaking shocked
No details yet, but we received a call from a Detective saying they have the names of the boys who jumped my kid and some of the gear is recovered. Holy crap - never expected them to find out anything, figured it’d just be another crime in an ever growing city.
As I said, the details were lacking at this point, but the expect to call my son in within a week for a photo line up.

Robbery saga
Things seem to be starting to get back to normal. The boy has freaking amazing friends and is doing quite fine. All “officials” involved have been wonderful - police, middle of the night insurance company, insurance adjuster.. just wonderful.

I got a midnight call from the city police tonight. That’s never any good. It starts off with “your son is ok - we have him with us”. I must admit, my first thoughts for this almost 17 year old kid were “holy hell, what’d he do?!”

This week I’m working Friday/Saturday/Sunday over nights (6pm-6am)
Today I was asked to log in for a “quick meeting” at 1pm. I did, figured what the heck, a few hours OT would be great.
However, the “quick meeting” had me logged in and working from 1pm-8pm before I was able to log out. THEN, the dispatch manager calls from a conference she’s at in another...
Woohoo! I just bought a new Netbook for our trip to Washington DC (and subsequent trips anywhere else to follow). I’ve hauled my big-ass laptop all over North America and I don’t have to ever do it again :)
In the past, it’s been either haul the laptop or pay crazy stupid roaming charges on the Smart Phone. This little Asus is so small it’ll fit in my larger Coach bags...

I don’t mind fall. Ok, fall sucks here. You go from green to yellow. We don’t get any of the awesome colours that the east get.
