Alison Redford’s PCs win majority in Alberta election
Defying the odds of pollsters and naysayers, Alberta’s long-ruling Progressive Conservatives elected their 12th straight majority government Monday night.
Matt Gurney: Young Alberta voters too embarrassed to vote Wildrose?
It is not that the new crop of voters isn’t right-wing, they just didn’t think Wildrose could represent them — or worse, worried they might embarrass them.
The young too embarrassed? All the younger voters that I know identified the Wildrose as a scary party that they wanted nothing to do with very early on. Though my riding was one of two won by Wildrose in Calgary, Heather Forsyth has been very good to us over the years as a PC and may she remain so as a Wildrose member.
I’m just beyond relieved that the Wildrose didn’t win last night - I didn’t want to wake up in 1950’s Alberta.
